When Neysa, a market trader from Los Angeles, rents a cottage on the coast of England, she would never have imagined the secrets she would uncover and a new world beyond this one.

In befriending a family in town, Neysa learns that they are emissaries from a fae realm, charged with keeping guard of the volatile Veil between realms. And the four crystals that kept the Veil secure have gone missing.

In a race to protect the realms, Neysa must learn about the new world she’s been thrust into and uncover the secrets in her blood. Luckily fae guardian Caderyn and his cousin are willing to help Neysa in her quest. But even if they can get the crystals back, there may be great consequences for the future of the fae realm.

Another Beast’s Skin Review

This book is amazing. It puts a book in the niche that I am looking for. Fae, ADULT MC and some tension. Jessika knew what she was doing when she wrote this book. I would compare it to ACOTAR and Folk of the Air, but for ADULTS. I mean, the MC is in her 30’s!

After the death of her father, Neysa puts her career on hold to move to coastal England. The friends she makes in town give her a new sense of self, but quickly she gets pulled into a plot to stabilize the Veil which divides both the human world and the Fae realm. In this fantastical world, we find Neysa’s anxiety of soldiering through the world, unaware of who she truly is, and the boundaries she surpasses once her true self is realized. Love, death, blood, and friendship all combine, taking us from the rugged English coast, throughout Eastern Europe, Peru, Los Angeles, and into Aoifsing, the realm that will suffer along with our world if the Veil cannot be stabilized.

I consumed this book. I was up until 3 am reading it. I could not put it down once I started. I am loving more novels whose main characters and perspectives are not 20-something girls. I never saw any of the twists coming and I cannot wait for book 2 to follow Neysa and the trio more into their adventures. I will be looking to get approved for the ARC of book 2 and cannot wait for my physical cover to come in the mail!
