If they could hold on to that strength, I could too.

I would.
I would do whatever it took to get out of here and back to my prince. Whatever was to happen, I would endure it and bide my time until i could figure out how to get myself free…
and free those around me.

Egan

Talons of Love Synopsis

Two hearts bound together, suddenly torn apart…

When Egan disappears, Prince Raiden will stop at nothing to find him. With his closest friends and an unexpected acquaintance, he leaves the Sixth Realm behind to track down the man he loves. What he sees along the way will stay with him forever.

Egan finds himself face to face with the man who has haunted his dreams since he was a child, only now he brings new nightmares. Egan’s not the only one suffering at the monster’s hand; there are others- others like him. He vows to do whatever he can to stop the monster and protect those around him.

Egan holds on to the hope that the love and connection he has with Raiden will reunite them once again.

Talons of Love Review

Rating: 4.5 out of 5.

Talons of Love throws us right back into Egan and Raidon’s story as the events of this book start exactly where Bound in Fire leaves us. The third novel of the Dragon King series by Debbie McQueen takes the stakes of the first two novels and significantly increases it. While the basis of the story is the accepting and sweet love between Egan and Raidon, the events that have been foreshadowed and plotted by other characters are starting to come to pass. Both Egan and Raidon face realizations that shift both of their perspectives on what they mean to each other, what The Sixth means to the world and the lengths people will go to. The events of Talons of Love shifts the story from the focus being on their love for each other to what is going on in the world. Answers for the questions that are made in Of Heart and Wings and Bound in Fire are revealed, and more questions are raised, including the future that Egan and Raidon will face as Raidon is the Crown Prince.

Egan faces a lot of turmoil in this book. First with his capture and who holds him. But also, internally with who he is as a person and his new place within The Sixth. He is forced to make decisions that make him grow and he comes out of it a stronger person with a stronger sense of who he is and what things mean to him. His dragon reveals her feelings more and takes a strong stance on some events that she experiences in this book. This book is definitely darker for Egan, but there is light also. Egan leans on the bond between him and Raidon and he also learns that he is not alone. In more ways than one….

Raidon also comes into himself and out of his father’s shadow in this novel. He makes decisions that put himself on the line for Egan’s sake. Some of these are life-changing and cannot be reversed. He goes through more emotionally growth in this novel than the first two. He feels compelled to do whatever he must to find Egan. His strength of character and a view of who he will be a King is shown when he choses to help despite it causing Egan to face more at the hands of his captors. I am so glad to see Raidon not lose himself completely in his love for Egan, to remember who he is and what he represents despite everything. In a love as strong as these two, it is easy to lose yourself in the other and I am glad that the are growing both together and individually.

Talons of Love continues to shine a light on how a love can flourish when given support and acceptance from those who surround them. While this novel takes the series into a darker place, it also has a lot moments of light. Debbie McQueen’s writing in this novel shows that some of the strongest relationships can come from those you least expect, and that people around you are willing to sacrifice everything to bring you back from a dark place. This world of acceptance and support is still a breath of fresh air and I am excited to read the fourth book to see where Egan and Raidon’s story goes from here. Especially after the conversation between King Rodick and Prince Raidon that is included in the ending.

I would like to thank Debbie for sending me an advanced reader’s copy for my review.
